SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT v. MYERS

JURY TRIAL: 2017

INITIAL OFFER: $84,000

FINAL AWARD: $650,000

Represented the owners’ five-acre homestead condemned by SFWMD for environmental restoration purposes. We proved that the government had hindered potential development in this area via long-term acquisitions and regulatory denials, effectively creating blight in the area.  The clients’ appraised value of the property was $283,000, but due to the blight and other onerous governmental actions, the jury returned a verdict of $650,000.
